The DTU-one UltraSure® is the new generation ultrasound scanner that gives the physician the opportunity to assess osteoporotic fracture risk in the clinic by measuring the calcaneus. The DTU-one UltraSure® provides a cost-effective and reliable assessment of the patient’s risk of developing a bone fracture.

The handy size of the DTU-one UltraSure® together with the use of ultrasound technology means that DTU-one UltraSure® can be placed in any examination room without special requirements - no room shielding, no time-consuming installation and only minimum space is required. With the DTU-one UltraSure® it is possible to have a high daily patient throughput as the actual scan time only takes a few minutes.

The DTU-one UltraSure® measures broadband ultrasound attenuation (BUA) and speed of sound (SOS*). With the DTU-one UltraSure® the patient is assured a precision that is second to none (BUA in vivo:98.4%, SOS* in vivo: 99.8%). In addition the DTU-one UltraSure® automatically creates a high-resolution image of the scanned bone, the heel, which enables a reliable definition of the ROI (Region of Interest). The ability to precisely identify a well-defined area of the calcaneus ensures that the same area of bone is assessed at repeated measurements - independently of the overall heel size and positioning of the foot.

The design of the DTU-one UltraSure® ensures precise examination results avoiding any kind of fixation aid. The calcaneus is a highly suitable site for assessment of osteoporotic fracture risk when using ultrasound because it is a weight-bearing bone, it has two nearly plane-parallel sides, consists mainly of trabecular bone and is surrounded by only a thin layer of soft tissue.

The DTU-one UltraSure® is a truly automated system, instantly operational and based on the well-known Windows NT™ platform with self-explanatory screen displays and patient reports.
